Family Holiday

The Wilsons (Paul, Emma, Linda and Greg) at the base of the 'Old Man Of Stor' on Skye.

My dad and mom were visiting with us the past two weeks. We had a great time. The first week, we took a break in the Isle of Skye, about 200 miles north of Glasgow. Skye is rugged, remote, and strikingly beautiful. Being so far north and mountainous, the weather moves in extremes: from bright sunshine to hail in the space of an hour. It’s the sort of place that displays the splendour and raw power of God’s creation. We stayed in a cottage on the north of the Island where we saw more animals than people. It was a great chance to relax, catch up, and to experience another side of Scotland.

Cold Wilsons in Elgol

We spent the next week in Glasgow. My mom and dad were able to see some of our work here and meet some of our friends. We’ve told them a lot about Glasgow, but that’s no substitute for actually seeing things first hand.

It was great to have them with us and we will miss them.

The colour of the water at the ‘coral beaches’ was amazing: colours I associate with the Mediterranean in the north west of Scotland.

Waves at Elgol, the Cullins in the distance. The Guardian listed this place as one of the best views in Britain; it's not hard to see why.
